About RUWES
Rural Women Energy Security Ltd/Gte (RUWES) is a Non-Profit Organisation targeted towards saving lives, protecting the environment and improving the economy. RUWES is also aimed at providing renewable energy at a subsidised rate for underserved rural and peri-urban women.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), smoke from indoor air pollution causes over 100,000 deaths in Nigeria every year, mostly women and children. Owing to the energy poverty prevalent in the rural areas, most households depend on firewood for cooking and heating purposes.
Eco Technology
RUWES works with manufacturers and distributors of clean energy products, as well as financial institutions and governments to ensure reliable, practical and affordable clean energy products are readily available.
Smart Tech
The REAP employs the vehicle of small renewable energy appliances which provide lighting and mini electric solutions to the most energy poor in the Nation.
Training
Raising awareness about the connection between health, poverty and fuel sources, and to organize and galvanize rural women to demand for sustainable alternatives that will provide a lasting solution to the problem.

The Rural Energy Access Project (REAP)
The Rural Energy Access Project is the lighting and heating component of RUWES developed to bring affordable energy solutions to the underserved and underprivileged rural dweller. The average rural inhabitant has no access to electricity or electric solutions to improve on the quality of life.
The National Clean Cooking Scheme (NCCS)
The National Clean Cooking Scheme is the cooking component of the RUWES. It seeks to address the need for clean cooking technologies. It is also an ongoing initiative, which is implemented in different states and rural communities of the nation according to available resources, in conjunction with our development partners.
