Nigeria<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Rural Women Energy Security (RUWES) Initiative Nigeria was honored to participate in the Inception Workshop for the project <strong>\u201cAddressing Highly Hazardous Pesticides Responsible for Poisoning and Deaths in Nigeria for Improved Decision-Making and Effective Poisoning Prevention.\u201d<\/strong> This critical gathering convened key national and international stakeholders committed to tackling the growing threat posed by toxic pesticides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The technical sessions featured expert presentations on a range of pressing issues, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Addressing HHPs to Reduce Poisonings and Suicides<\/strong> \u2013 CPSP<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Prevalence of HHP Poisoning and Promotion of Sustainable Alternatives in Nigeria<\/strong> \u2013 AAPN<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Advancing Efforts Toward Eliminating HHPs in Nigeria<\/strong> \u2013 NAFDAC<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Research on Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Policy<\/strong> \u2013 Mandate Health Empowerment Initiative<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Surveillance Work on Pesticide Poisoning in Nigeria<\/strong> \u2013 UK-HSA Nigeria<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Importance of Monitoring Pesticide Poisoning and Data Collection<\/strong> \u2013 CPSP<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>RUWES was represented by the <strong>Head of Secretariat, Mrs. Jumaima Ella<\/strong>, alongside a member of the Secretariat team, reaffirming the organization\u2019s dedication to protecting the health and wellbeing of rural communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the workshop, RUWES highlighted its ongoing efforts to <strong>reduce dependence on toxic pesticides through climate-smart agricultural practices.<\/strong> These include scaling <strong>biogas technology<\/strong> that transforms agricultural waste into high-quality <strong>organic NPK fertilizer<\/strong>, as well as training rural women farmers on <strong>safe, sustainable, and environmentally friendly farming techniques<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RUWES remains committed to strengthening partnerships, promoting sustainable alternatives, and safeguarding vulnerable populations\u2014especially rural women and children\u2014from the dangers of highly hazardous pesticides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Together, we can prevent
