RUWES Participates in Stakeholders’ Consultation on Policy Instrument for Management of Used Off-Grid Energy Equipment

The Rural Women Energy Security (RUWES) Initiative participated in a Brainstorming Stakeholders’ Consultation Meeting on Policy Instrument for Management of Used Off-Grid Energy Equipment (OGEE) held on 18th February 2025 at the Abuja Continental Hotel, Wuse, Abuja.

The event, themed “Circular Solution for Sustainable Tomorrow”, was organized under the NetZero Nigeria Solution project — an initiative funded by the European Union (EU) in collaboration with the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The programme aims to advance Nigeria’s green and just transition to net zero through the adoption of circular economy practices.

The meeting brought together representatives from key government agencies, development partners, and industry stakeholders to deliberate on effective policy instruments for managing used off-grid energy equipment and e-waste in Nigeria. Discussions centered on identifying policy gaps, exploring feasible solutions, and charting practical next steps at both federal and state levels.

RUWES’ participation in the consultation underscores its commitment to promoting sustainable energy practices, environmental responsibility, and women’s inclusion in Nigeria’s green transition agenda. By engaging in such policy dialogues, RUWES continues to advocate for cleaner, safer, and more inclusive energy systems that empower rural women and contribute to a sustainable future
